FAQs

Why should I choose J.Haltam Photography?
We take pride in building real friendships, celebrating your love story, and offering an unforgettable experience. Every couple brings new adventures and stories to tell, and it’s this sweet journey that we love to share! We truly love being a part of such special moments and pouring our hearts into making your day the best day ever! Give us a call; we’d love to meet you and hear all about your plans! God bless!

How do I book a session?
Simply contact me via the contact form, my JHP Facebook page, e-mail (jhaltam@yahoo.com), or phone (352.318.2970). To make the process faster, please have a few dates in mind and a location where you would like to do the shoot. Sessions are booked Monday-Friday; weekends are reserved for weddings.

Is a deposit required?
A $50 deposit will reserve your session date and go toward the balance, which is due the day of the shoot; weddings require a non-refundable 15% deposit with the remaining balance is due 2 weeks prior to the date of the wedding unless prior arrangements have been made.

How much is a session?
Please see the “Investment” tab for full pricing breakdown.

When do I pay?
All payments are to be made in full on the day of your shoot. You can pay by cash, check or card. Please make checks payable to ‘Josh Haltam’. In the event of a bounced check, a $30 fee will be applied and you will be responsible for repayment of the session cost plus the $30 returned fee, both payable only in cash.

Which locations do you suggest?
My suggestion is any place that fits your style. Some people prefer natural landscaping, whereas others prefer the edgy cityscape. Popular location choices are downtown areas of cities, parks, beaches, lakes, and gardens. Many times your own yards and local fields have desirable qualities often overlooked. Consider the type of shoot you are wanting, and look around as you’re driving through town. You may be surprised at all the possibilities! If you’re stuck on ideas, we’re here to help!

How far do you travel and what are the fees?
We’re an international photographer team! Be sure to ask about special discounts for DESTINATION WEDDINGS! There is no charge for local shoots within 25 miles of ZIP 32054. Travel fees are simply based on the current IRS standard rate.

What is the best time of day to take photos?
Generally, the times listed below are “the best,” but I also have a sun table that can be used to schedule your day specifically.
Winter — 8:00am or 3:30pm
Spring — 8:00am or 6:00pm
Summer — 7:30am or 6:30pm
Fall — 8:00am or 4:00pm

What should I wear?
Something comfortable! If you are uncomfortable in your clothes, it will show in your photos – make sure it’s something you feel confident about yourself in! Our shoots are fun and all about the real YOU, so wear something you can move around in, whether sitting, standing, walking, or playing. – Avoid shirts with a lot of words; they can be very distracting to the overall image. Solid colors tend to work best, but don’t be afraid to be yourself! If you normally wear flashy clothes, or want a certain look, go for it! That’s what makes your session unique! – Girls, try to avoid wearing slicked back hair; it might turn out looking like you don’t have any! – If your outfit calls for heels, don’t shy away from them! You just may consider bringing an extra pair of flats or sandals to walk around in (you can carry them in a bag or your purse). – Keep your jewelry to a minimum; metals tend to create unwanted reflections. If you wear earrings, keep them small. Again, sometimes the outfit calls for more jewelry, just use your best judgment. You can always take it off if you don’t like it.

Color Combo Wheel
(these color combination tips come from fashionbombdaily.com)
Colors directly next to each other (i.e. yellow and orange-yellow)
Colors that form right (90 degree) angles (i.e. blue and violet-red)
Colors directly across from each other (i.e. yellow-green and violet-red)
Colors that form a ‘T’ (i.e. blue, orange, and violet-red)
Colors that form an ‘X’ (i.e. blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow-green) Since brown is a neutral, it will go with virtually any color on the color wheel. A chocolate brown with cobalt blue or fuchsia or bright red is a fun and bold combo. Of course white, black, and the hues of blue found in denim are also neutrals that go with just about anything.

Will I be able to change clothes?
Yes, you may bring whatever you wish to change into. Depending on the location, you may or may not have a restroom close by, so consider that as well. Typically, changing clothes takes place in your car. Keep in mind, this does cut into your photo taking time, so plan out your changes ahead of time so that our time together is used most efficiently.

What about props?
Our style is about capturing real life and the natural interactions between you. If you like props, bring them! They can be as simple as lollipops and bubbles for your kids, balloons, baskets, hats, sunglasses, scarves and other accessories, blankets to lay on, sports equipment, guitars, bicycles, a car, Scrabble letters, chalkboards, picture frames, fruit, or even furniture! You can create a themed photo shoot, or just choose something that represents you. Have an imagination and show off your creative side – don’t be afraid to let loose and have some fun!

When will I see my photos?
The average time to receive your photos will be with 1 week of your session, or 2 weeks after your wedding, depending on the season (some parts of the year are naturally busier than others). Some of your photos may be seen on either Facebook or my website before then, as they are finished. The online gallery will be available as soon as your photos are completely uploaded.

What’s the deal with the online gallery?
Your images are uploaded into a private online gallery. From this gallery, you will be able to easily view the photos, order prints & other professional quality products, and of course download the digital files and share with family & friends so they can do the same! This means faster turnaround times, no more waiting on the mail, or having to share CDs and flash drives!

Do you offer CDs or USB flash drives of my images?
USB flash drives can still be purchased and delivered for an additional fee. With the online gallery, there is no more worrying about CDs getting scratched, becoming corrupted, or being damaged in the mail. Using the gallery also allows everyone in your family to download and order their own prints, without having to pass around a flash drive or purchase additional flash drives for different family members.

How do I place an order for my photos?
All weddings and portrait collections (except the SIMPLE Portrait Collection) include an online gallery. From the gallery, you are able to click on any photo, select the size and amount you want, and pay online. We fulfill the orders and send them to your home. The SIMPLE Portrait Collection is limited to locations within 25 miles of Lake Butler, FL. After the session, print and digital purchases will be made in person at our home office.

Well, what about…?
If you have any other questions, just ask! I’d love to talk to you about how we can make the most out of your photos.

Thanks!
